I read all kinds of stuff. I'm the type of guy who can go into Barnes & Noble and start in just about any section.

In more recent years, I've developed a strong interest in literary fiction. "The Red Tent" is one of the best books I've ever read, and it was beautifully written.

Of late (the past few years), I've been absorbed in older detective fiction--Raymond Chandler, Dashell Hammet, Ross McDonald, and others. Random House's "Black Lizard" imprint is a treasure-trove of such books.

Stephen Covey's "7 Habits" book continues to have a strong influence on me. Any book about World War 2 can capture my attention, especially books about the Holocaust.

I love beautifully-written non-fiction, like "From Beirut to Jerusalem," Tom Wolfe's "The Right Stuff," and "Into Thin Air."
