Rome, Italy

On Wednesday, we were given a tour of the ancient Roman ruins. Our guide, in the middle, also served as our guide the next day through the Vatican. Jenny, our tour guide throughout Italy,is on the left.

Napoleon liked this Arch so much that he had one built in Paris.

Our first stop was the Coliseum. In the States, we would have torn this down after 30 years and built a new one, with skyboxes.

The floor of the Coliseum. A stage was set up for a Greek play, which opened the night before.

Paul and Shirley Lehman outside the Coliseum. Shirley is hiding
somewhere beneath those sunglasses.

The Necropolis.

The Pantheon, the most well-preserved of the Roman buildings.

Our guide explains something or other.

John and Grace Ann Lockwood.

Returning to the bus required a ride on the subway.

That evening, we ate at a restaurant which, in the past, had been a prison. The beautiful outside atmosphere was made more enjoyable by these musicians, who wandered from table to table serenading people. The trumpet player gave Marda a couple kisses, and Jim had to tip him.

A quiet meal in the prison yard.
