St. Peter's Basilica was a huge, huge building. In the middle
is the balcony where
the Pope gives Mass a couple times a year.
Up above is the building where the Pope lives. The second window from the right, on the second floor from the top, is the window from which the Pope blesses the crowd on Sundays. The windows are shuttered when the Pope isn't in town. Most of the time, we were told, the Pope inhabits a home elsewhere in Rome.
